Lowry and Maylene Flake have been long-time residents of Snowflake. Lowry is the great grandson of the town's founder, William Jordan Flake. Lowry and Maylene were married in 1963 in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. Lowry taught Seminary in Brigham City, New Mexico, and Snowflake. In 1971, they purchased a block full of dry, weedy, windswept dirt and rocks, and developed it into the Flake Mobile Home Park. They raised their seven children in Snowflake and currently have 77 grand and great grandchildren. Through the years they have loved living in Snowflake with its wonderful friends and neighbors, and have enjoyed participating in many community projects, choirs, and teaching opportunities, including Liberty Belles, Constitution classes, and the Snowflake Heritage Foundation, as well as serving missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cambodia, Siberia, West Africa and the Snowflake Arizona Temple. They were selected for their willing service and heartfelt dedication to Snowflake. Lowry and Maylene participate in this year's celebration as living representatives of Snowflake's deep family values and heritage.
